Going outside in the rain, and looking up at a thundering sky is, to me, a very human experience. Hearing the roar in the distance, and seeing the flashes of light all around you is both belittling and awe-inspiring. Yesterday, we had a particularly powerful storm. Windows shattered, and trees fell. With the electricity out, there was that certain kind of silence that feels impenetrable, but peaceful. I sat at the dining room table, accompanied by the light of a few candles, taking the opportunity to put down the first marks in my moleskine.
